Why Support Us?
Thomastown United has been in existence since 1968 when the team played in “Cowdung Park”, where The Greens housing estate is now. After a couple of moves, the club bought its own grounds, United Park off the Dublin Road in 1984. At present there are 5 grass pitches and 2 small Astro turf pitches to cater for over 30 teams of various ages, male and female.
It has become apparent in recent years that a full-size Astro Turf pitch would enable the many teams in the club to get enough training time during the winter months to reach their potential and be suitable for hurling, Gaelic football, Camogie, rugby and more. Matches could also be played day or night regardless of weather conditions helping our local schools and clubs to fulfil fixtures.
The club has produced international players like Colm Whelan, Ellen Molloy and Michael Reddy in the past. Proper facilities along with a good coaching structure can ensure standards are raised and who knows where the club can go in the future.
Our Goal
The construction of an Astro pitch is a costly project as it involves pitch construction, fencing and lighting all to a high standard.
The pitch, fencing and lighting will cost €600,000.
Club funds, borrowings, Sports Capital Grant (€118,000) come to a total of €500,000, leaving a shortfall of €100,000. (Mainly due to inflation in the last 2 years).
Phase 2 can happen in the following 12 months which will consist of extra car parking, fencing of our new main grass pitch and long overdue wheelchair and extra ladies’ toilets at a cost of approx €130,000.
In order to make this project become a reality, the club must raise significant funds.
We are asking everybody with any connection with, or interest in Thomastown United and the wider community to support our fundraising efforts to make this project happen.

Your name will be featured on this permanent presentation sign that will be displayed at the club grounds in perpetuity, and you will also receive a certificate of donation from the club.

How You Can Help
Commercial Options
The Committee is inviting local businesses and the self employed to consider supporting the new development by contributing to purchasing the larger sections on the pitch. A donor who is taxed through the self assessment system will be entitled to claim tax deduction on their annual tax return. All purchases are made gross to the Club with the taxpayer reclaiming the tax themselves. Receipts will be provided.
Voluntary Contribution
You can also make a voluntary contribution to support the delivery of this exciting project. No matter how big or small the donation, every euro we receive is a step closer to us achieving our goal to deliver this amenity that will benefit the entire community. To make a voluntary contribution, please contact a member of the club.

Club History
In 2004 Thomastown UFC invested in additional land adjacent to our existing grounds and approx 10 acres of land which houses 4 pitches, training areas, a car park and changing rooms for four teams and officials.
In March 2007 the club realised a long time ambition, and over five years of work, by finally constructing floodlit all-weather training areas.
In 2010, the club purchased additional adjacent land to facilitate the re-positioning of two proposed sand based pitches and a full size all-weather pitch to achieve the FAI standard for Regional Centre of Excellence status.
